Nah, only 3 kinds of people make PDF documents:
- Petty teachers and llamas because they think their half-assed works are so important and so unique (like every other university/website/book didn't have that as well) they need to protect it from others editing and copying it.
- Companies because it's a fad.
- Stupid Adobe/PDF fanbois that like how blurry text looks in PDFs and how nice the colored buttons in the latest Acrobat bloatware look.
You know what's portable? UTF-8 plain text. And if you want colors "and stuff", http://www.w3c.org .

Still, i believe HTML is a perfect way to format text and put it "decent" with colours, strength for the letters and that.
